  • Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre Raises ₹28 Crore In Series A Led By Alkemi Growth Capital

    Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre

Pune: Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre has raised ₹28 crore in Series A funding led by Alkemi Growth Capital, a Delhi-based venture capital fund focused on healthcare and consumer wellness.

The round is the first institutional funding for Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre. The organisation has built its network through internal accruals before this investment.

Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre provides mental health, addiction and dementia care.

It was founded in Pune in 2008 by psychiatrist Dr Amar Shinde and Vijaya Shinde, and began as a 10-bed centre. Hemant Shinde joined in 2019 as Co-founder and CEO.

The Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre network now spans 19+ centres across nine cities, including Pune, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Chennai, with 1,600+ beds and 40+ doctors.

The organisation says it has supported more than 82,000 individuals through mental health, addiction and substance-use, and neurological care programmes.

The investment will support Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre’s entry into new geographies, expansion of clinical and staff capacity, specialised care programmes, and deeper insurance and corporate partnerships.

The funding for Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre comes amid growing demand for structured, clinically led rehabilitation and mental healthcare in India.

It describes the sector as fragmented, with care largely delivered through standalone clinics and smaller independent establishments.

Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre plans to grow to 40+ centres and 4,000+ beds across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities over the next 3-4 years

Dr Amar Shinde, Founder & Director of Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre, said: “This first institutional investment is an important milestone in Jagruti’s journey.

When we started in 2008, our focus was on creating a space where individuals and families could access structured, compassionate and clinically guided care.”

Shinde said the funding gives Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre the opportunity to build on that foundation: “Over the years, that vision has grown into a wider network serving people across the country. This funding gives us the opportunity to build on that foundation and make quality rehabilitation and mental healthcare accessible to many more individuals and families across India.”

Alka Goel, Founder and Managing Partner of Alkemi Growth Capital, said: “Mental health is one of the largest and least institutionalised gaps in Indian healthcare.”

Goel added on Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre: “Before taking any outside capital, Jagruti had already replicated that model across nine cities with a professional management team behind it.”

Alkemi’s portfolio includes Redcliffe Labs in diagnostics, Medvital in medical devices, Datar Cancer Genetics in IVD deeptech, Medulance in emergency medical response, Alphadroid in autonomous mobility robots, and Leumas in physical-AI for pharma manufacturing.

Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre is Alkemi’s first investment in the mental health and rehabilitation segment in healthcare delivery.
